I love women’s fashion. Beautiful dresses and shoes galore. It became apparent early in my life that I would always choose comfort over couture. Trying different looks was short-lived, and I ended up being the jeans-and t-shirt girl that I am. I love a good pair of well-fit, broken-in jeans. My newly-developed concern for ever-changing fads are the cute low-rise jeans of today.
They seem to be getting lower and lower. They look adorable standing
but as soon as you sit or bend, it’s peek-a-boo with your backside. I
have spent a good chunk of time making sure this doesn’t happen to me.
Checking just how far I can bend before you see the top of my buns.
It’s always in the front of my mind. So I’m puzzled as to how so many
woman don’t feel the need to practice my ritual of modesty.
To say it bluntly: “I see a lot of crack.“ More and more everyday. How are they not aware that the top of their ass is exposed???
In addition, is there a polite way to tell someone they should ”pull
up their britches“? I have yet to find one. Am I gradually entering
the over-the-hill phase of my life, where you stop evolving with the
masses? Is it now acceptable to show your butt? I’m baffled!
Men have been mooning for as long as I can remember. It has been
universally labeled “plumber’s butt” and rightly so. It has always
been an off-putting sight, and negative as a whole. I can’t help but
feel the same way towards the female side of this wardrobe
malfunction.
It’s like a car wreck….I can’t look away…

Hahaha!! Nice one! 😀
Honestly, as a 28 year old guy, not sure if you’re too old yet – there’s fashionable and sexy and then there’s just plain daft. This is just plain pushing it AND daft.
Don’t get me wrong, most guys would be easily excited (a wee bit at least) if a girl bent over and you could get a peek, but I think there’s a fine line between retaining a sense of modesty and being sexy or enticing.
If its a purely fashion choice, its a foolish one. Though Im sure some folks just plain like being able to “tease” as it were.
Oh and thanks for dropping by my page, swing by anytime.
Cheers.

It’s nothing a little duct tape can’t cure… I long for the day when I can find a pair of jeans that actually rise above my pelvic bone. Either that or I need to start purchasing extra long shirts – and those seem to be in short supply as well.

Of course it’s deliberate! Most of the time it’s to show off those ass-antlers.

LMAO–I agree with you 100%

I’m a little different. While I can understand and empathize with your statement that the sight of crack is a bit like witnessing a train wreck, I myself actually have no problem looking away. But then, I guess I’m callous enough to ignore a train wreck, too. 😀

apparently crack is the new cleavage, but I don’t want to look at anyone’s boobs either. I find a discreetly placed ice cube sends a nice message. 😉

Jessica,
I see this a lot (at work!), often combined with a thong. I don’t think there’s good way to request a person provide adequate coverage because exposure is the intention. Once the “style” of revealing butt-crack became commonplace, it achieved bandwagon status and suddenly it’s a butt-crack revolution! Remember when it was suddenly acceptable for blubbery midsections of young girls to hang over too-tight pants (at least it was around these parts)? How about the “saggy pants and my boxers are showing” trend on wanna-be high-school thugs? How the hell do these things become ok? Isn’t looking ridiculous embarrassing anymore or is it now a goal?
I don’t think you’re entering the “over-the-hill” phase, I think you’re just astounded at the lengths people will go to grab some attention or “fit in”. Besides “over-the-hill” isn’t a phase at all, it’s a frame of mind.

Another terrific post, Jessica. Really enjoy reading your blog. Catchy title too for this post. Blatant backside displays bother me too and I don’t think you are over the hill. I like Jenn’s idea of an ice cube. lol

Pretty funny observation! There definitely is a fine line between what might be tasteful and just too much (really difficult to do tasteful when showing crack/underwear).
I also agree with Jenn’s comment above, that it’s funny how acceptable we are of cleavage, but cleavage of the behind is not acceptable. Funny things to consider!
And thanks for stopping by my blog! Feel free to stop by any time!

hahaha! super gross! my very good, chivalrous friend helped me out on friday. gwendolyn did her “business,” requiring a “clean-up” during our morning walk. so my walking partner bent down to pick it up, exposing his “you know what.” i didn’t say anything but am still tempted to say something, two days later, because it’s really bothering me! haha! but i did say something to him once whilst bicycle riding. it was stated bluntly as, “yeah, i can see your bottom.” LOL, he was mortified!
i think i’ll send him a link to this post. it’ll be easier than telling him verbally. x

lol – so true and funny I thought I was just me, and me getting older, that made my concern about how my bum looks sitting in a pair of jeans a bit obsessive

Ha ha too funny. I have the crack showing problem too, at no fault of my own. Womens pants aren’t designed for all of us. :::sigh:::

Umm, yeah I’m not sure about the appeal. Maybe it’s a way to show off the “tramp stamp”. Who knows. Speaking of polite warnings, is there a possible way to let someone know their breath isn’t so fresh?

Well, I also don’t want to see others’ crack and I will not let it happen to me as well 😀

I completely agree with your post Jessica! What kills me is females that wear low rise jeans and thongs, and the thong is halfway up their back…what they are thinking, I’ll never know or understand. And honestly, I’m not so sure I want to know.

I simply say, “Excuse me Ma’am, but you’re exposing yourself.” ti’s polite, yet gets the point across.

Last year in high school, I was sitting behind a girl in math class. She was basically sitting on her pants, not wearing them. Her butt was very exposed. “How is she not feeling a breeze or something?!” I thought to myself. But yeah, mean as I am, I didn’t notify her, but rather, just took a picture and posted it on Tumblr. I’m such a jackass. Funny post! Nice job. Cheers.

dude, i am *totally* with you. crack kills, doesn’t matter who’s doin the showin. the problem is that lower-cut jeans/pants look so much better than those up to our bellybuttons (hi, mom jeans!). i think someone needs to invent some kind of snap-on crack-blocker so we can have the best of both worlds. oh and don’t get me started on big ol muffin tops. won’t even go there!

The problem with most pants and jeans, for me, is that they have a low waist and I have a high waist. I also have hips that are bigger than my waist! It can be tough to find pants that fit right. Admittedly, I have been guilty of showing crack on a few occasions. *shamed*

I think it’s fashionable but only if a woman in small in size. For larger women, it’s, well, not only distasteful but disgusting, because larger women don’t make the “attractive cut” when showing crack. Even less appealing when the larger woman exposes thongs. I’ve, unfortunately, have had the misfortune of being an eyewitness to this.
adultcollegestudents said:
OMG I agree! The dredded THONG exposure! I personally don’t want to see it even with a younger woman! I’m soon to be 52 years old. I long for the younger days without having to witness this. LOl cut me some slack. 🙂
